Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall had to be substituted in the first half of Everton’s 2-0 defeat by Chelsea.
David Moyes has provided an Everton injury update on Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall after the loss against Chelsea.
The Toffees suffered a 2-0 defeat in West London as their wait for a victory at Stamford Bridge extended to 31 years.
Everton’s task of gaining a result against Chelsea was made significantly harder when Dewsbury-Hall was forced off in the 16th minute. The midfielder, signed from Chelsea in the summer transfer window, has been one of the Blues’ standout performers this season.
Moyes admitted that Dewsbury-Hall was already feeling tight before the game and did not have a full prognosis of the problem. Speaking to Sky Sports, Moyes said: "I'll find out later what it is, he had a bit of tightness already and then he felt in during the game.”
Everton will hope that Dewsbury-Hall has avoided a serious injury given that Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gana Gueye are now unavailable for a period. Both will represent Senegal at the African Cup of Nations. Moyes added: "It will be difficult to replace [Iliman] Ndiaye and Gana [Idrissa Gueye], both are brilliant players who have done well. But when you sign African players you have to accept they will go to Afcon. We want them to do well for their countries."
