Through 20 games this season, Edwards has averaged 28.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.2 steals, while shooting an efficient 50.0% from the field and 41.6% from 3-point range.
His continued growth and consistency have solidified him as the cornerstone of the Timberwolves’ pursuit of championship contention.

As Minnesota prepares for Sunday’s game against the Sacramento Kings, Edwards’ availability remains uncertain. Before Friday’s matchup with the Golden State Warriors, he was added to the injury report with right foot soreness and given a questionable designation. Just hours before tipoff, he was officially ruled out.
Fortunately for the Timberwolves, the shorthanded squad still managed to take down Golden State on the road, earning a 127–120 victory without their best player.
Yet only a day later, Edwards’ status ahead of Sacramento received a similar update. Minnesota announced its injury report for the game, once again listing Edwards as questionable with the same right foot soreness.
“Minnesota @Timberwolves Status Report in advance of tomorrow night’s game vs. Sacramento: QUESTIONABLE: Edwards – Right Foot Soreness,” the team wrote on X.
If Edwards is once again unable to suit up, forward Julius Randle and guard Donte DiVincenzo would be tasked with taking on expanded roles to help shoulder the scoring load. However, Edwards’ absence fundamentally alters Minnesota’s offensive game plan.
As one of the league’s premier 3-point shooters, Edwards stretches defenses with his perimeter accuracy, forcing opponents to respect him well beyond the arc. At the same time, his explosiveness as a downhill attacker makes him a constant threat to get to the rim and finish through contact.
That dual ability not only generates his own scoring opportunities but also creates space and open looks for teammates, elevating the entire offense. His status will continue to be monitored as more updates on his right foot injury surface.
