Hurzeler gives Mitoma verdict as he returns at Liverpool

Kaoru Mitoma was in “a good place” during his return to action at Anfield.

The Japan winger went on for the final half-hour of the game as [Albion](https://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/albion/?ref=au) chased a result against Liverpool.

The most dangerous moment saw him whip a low ball across the face of goal which no one could touch home after a slick one-two with Georginio Rutter.

Mitoma had not played since the win at Chelsea almost three months ago.

He looked reasonably sharp and commanded Liverpool respect, attracting a second defender in Dominik Szoboszlai as the champions sat in a low block at Anfield.

But he could not Seagulls boss Hurzeler said: “I think it's important that he's back.

“I think he had a good start after long injury.

“He seemed to be in a good place.

“Now it's about getting him into his best shape and then I think we can get the best out of this team and try to be successful.”

Mitoma now has a week of work on the training pitch and the expectation, certainly outside the camp, will be that he starts at home to Sunderland next Saturday.

Tommy Watson did not make the squad and he will hope to change that against his old club.
