Liverpool are now five games unbeaten after winning 2-0 against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon at Anfield

Liverpool are starting to produce more consistency as they look to put their torrid autumn form well and truly behind them.

The Reds are now unbeaten in five games after wins over Brighton and Hove Albion and Inter Milan this week. They had drawn 3-3 with Leeds United and 1-1 with Sunderland in their previous two games while beating West Ham 2-0 at the start of their current unbeaten streak.

Much of the talk in the last seven days has been around Mohamed Salah and his future at the club. The Egyptian came out after the draw at Leeds with some bombshell comments, expressing frustration at being dropped and claiming there was no longer a relationship with manager Arne Slot.

However, he came off the bench in the first half on Saturday afternoon as the Reds beat Brighton 2-0. He even provided an assist as Hugo Ekitike scored twice to win the game for the hosts.

BBC Sport pundit Ashley Williams was impressed by Salah, as he said on BBC Final Score: “Mo Salah has been brilliant all afternoon. It is like the old Salah.”

He did miss a big chance in second-half stoppage time to get on the scoresheet as Federico Chiesa teed him up but Salah blazed over. The outing was his last appearance for Liverpool until January, as he now heads off to the African Cup of Nations with Egypt.

He was handed a 7/10 for his display by Liverpool World, as Will Rooney wrote: “Came on sooner than expected to a rousing applause. Looked sharp after being introduced for the rest of the first half. Played off the shoulder of Brighton's defence after the break and delivered a good corner for Ekitike's second goal. However, had to do better with his late chance and held onto ball for far too long when Liverpool engineered a late counter.”

Manager Arne Slot insisted it was an easy decision to recall Salah after he was left out of the club’s 19-man Champions League squad in midweek following his interview in the wake of the draw with Leeds.

"He was a threat, the first ball he touched he almost gave an assist to [Alexis] Mac Allister," said Slot. "He was constantly involved, pleasing but also not a surprise because he's done that many times.

"He goes to Egypt now to Afcon, that means for us another player down and we already didn't have a lot. But we knew before the season he would go and maybe one or two players can come back from injury. "
