Arsenal dramatically defeated Wolves at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday night to maintain their place at the top of the Premier League
Wolves held out against the league leaders until the 70th minute when Bukayo Saka’s corner hit the post then came back out and hit Sam Johnstone and went into the net. The away side equalised in the 90th minute when Tolu Arokodare headed in smartly.
However, Mikel Arteta’s side avoided an embarrassing draw against a side who had only picked up two points all season before visiting the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners hit back when Saka’s cross was turned in by Yerson Mosquera with the visitors scoring another own goal.
With the goals going down as own goals, Saka did not get credited with any official assists - but the ball would not have ended up in the net on both occasions had it not been for his deliveries into the box.
Saka was incredibly influential in the game as he had 63 touches, while completing four out of four dribbles. He also won 100 per cent of duels, with eight ground duels won along with three aerial duels. 36 of his 40 passes also found a teammate.
Reflecting on his decisive moment in second-half stoppage time, Saka said: “It was an amazing feeling to be fair. I didn't know why Gabby [Jesus] wasn't celebrating, I thought he scored, but I think it was an own goal. Still, it was an amazing feeling to win in the last minute. It's been us that have conceded in the last minute on a few occasions this season, so tonight it's nice that we're on the other side of it.
“That shows the character that we have and that we're not going to give up to the end. Also, we're at the Emirates and we need to make teams understand that coming here is going to be tough. I think we've shown that this season and we showed that again tonight.
“Obviously I'm happy with the three points, but a bit disappointed with how we played and how the outcome was almost us dropping points, but we didn't, so let's take the points and move forward.”
The Gunners now have seven days before they face Everton and Saka is look forward to a rare midweek without a game. He added: “It's going to be nice, It's been a really, really busy schedule. Credit to all the boys and the staff because we've been so intense, but we've been on it and we've had some amazing results.
“It's nice that we have a bit of a break, but it's not time to relax, it's just a time to reset a bit and then go again next week in the training sessions and be ready for Everton.”
