John Terry calls for praise for Robert Sanchez after Chelsea 2-0 Everton

There were a couple of big saves in the first half from Robert Sanchez, with the Spaniard coming into the game off the back of being named PFA fans’ Player of the Month for November.

Frequently the first person to be criticised when things haven’t been going well, John Terry believes it is time the goalkeeper got the praise he deserved.

He took to his TikTok after the game to praise Sanchez for his performance, as well as highlighting his upturn in form of late.

He said: “Big clean sheet as well for the boys, we deserved that today. I thought defensively, we were very good. Sanchez was excellent as well, and has been very good in recent weeks. Long may that continue.”

Despite Chelsea being told they need to strengthen their goalkeeper by plenty of pundits, his drastic improvements in the 2025/26 season need to be recognised.

Mike Maignan is frequently the man linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, as his contract is set to expire at the end of the season.

AC Milan are already looking for Maignan’s replacement, and a move to Chelsea would likely put an end to Sanchez’s time at the club.

With Mike Penders earning minutes at Strasbourg to help his development, the Spaniard is going to have to keep improving if he wants to maintain his place as the number one at Stamford Bridge.
