Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka said he was bewildered by Gabriel Jesus' muted reaction after the Gunners' dramatic late winner against Wolves.

The north London side maintained their Premier League title ambitions with a thrilling 2-1 triumph over the Premier League's basement boys. The hosts had taken the lead courtesy of a Sam Johnstone own-goal from a Saka cross, before Tolu Arokodare levelled matters late in the contest.

However, Mikel Arteta's men didn't settle for a draw and Yerson Mosquera inadvertently diverted another Saka cross into his own net for a breathtaking victory in stoppage time.

Initially, it seemed Brazilian striker Jesus had applied the crucial touch, leaving Saka baffled by his team-mate's subdued response, reports the Mirror. Reflecting on his team's triumph, the England international revealed: "It was an amazing feeling to be fair.

"I didn't know why Gabby [Jesus] wasn't celebrating, I thought he scored, but I think it was an own goal. Still, it was an amazing feeling to win in the last minute. It's been us that have conceded in the last minute on a few occasions this season, so tonight it's nice that we're on the other side of it.

"That shows the character that we have and that we're not going to give up to the end. Also, we're at the Emirates and we need to make teams understand that coming here is going to be tough. I think we've shown that this season and we showed that again tonight."

"Obviously I'm happy with the three points, but a bit disappointed with how we played and how the outcome was almost us dropping points, but we didn't, so let's take the points and move forward."

The Gunners' victory over Wolves has put them five points ahead in the Premier League, although Manchester City could close that gap when they face Crystal Palace on Sunday. Arsenal now have a week-long breather before their next match, an away game against Everton.

Saka is certainly looking forward to the respite amidst a jam-packed fixture list. He said: "It's going to be nice, It's been a really, really busy schedule. Credit to all the boys and the staff because we've been so intense, but we've been on it and we've had some amazing results.

"It's nice that we have a bit of a break, but it's not time to relax, it's just a time to reset a bit and then go again next week in the training sessions and be ready for Everton."
