Sky Sports: Liverpool now eyeing £86m deal to sign record-breaking forward, could replace Salah

Liverpool are among a host of Premier League clubs eyeing a move for RB Leipzig rising star Yan Diomande, Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has revealed.

The Reds are believed to have earmarked the 19-year-old winger as a potential target ahead of 2026, with Manchester City and Chelsea also having him in their sights.

While there are no concrete or advanced talks ongoing regarding a move, Leipzig are in a strong negotiating position, having only signed Diomande from Spanish side Leganes in July.

Leipzig have reportedly set an asking price of over €100m (£87m) for the 19-year-old, who could arrive at Anfield as a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah.

According to Plettenberg, Diomande’s departure after the World Cup is seen as a possible scenario, despite the 19-year-old being under contract with Leipzig until June 2030.

Diomande has been in exceptional form this season, scoring seven goals and providing four assists in 16 appearances across all competitions for Leipzig.

The four-cap Ivory Coast international scored his first career hat-trick in the 6-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt earlier this month, becoming the youngest Bundesliga player to score three goals in a single game since 1965.

Only midfielder Christoph Baumgartner has netted as many times (six) for Leipzig this league campaign, with Diomande also registering two assists in 10 starts.

Diomande was called up to the Ivory Coast squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, where he will compete for playing time with current and former Premier League stars Wilfried Zaha and Amad Diallo.

Liverpool have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo ahead of the January transfer window.

According to reports, the Ghana international has earmarked Anfield as his preferred destination next month, despite attracting interest from several other Premier League clubs.

Liverpool could bypass negotiations with Bournemouth for Semenyo in January, as he has a £65m release clause active next month.

The 25-year-old forward has scored six goals and provided three assists in 14 league appearances for the Cherries this season.
