[Albion](https://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/albion/?ref=au) put in a decent performance without scaling great heights.
Here is how they performed as individuals on a day when a lethal striker made the difference.
**Bart Verbruggen 7/10**
Was left grasping at thin air by Ekitike’s first-minute blast and pawed a Salah effort around the post ahead of the second goal. Had quite a quiet afternoon other than routine stuff.
**Mats Wieffer 7How /10**
Produced some good creative work as he strode forward and the pass for Gomez’s open goal was superb. The counter argument will be about his defending although it was not costly here.
**Jan Paul van Hecke 7/10**
Had been lured out of position as a huge gap appeared for the first goal and there was an unwise attempt to win the ball later which almost saw Etikite add another. Also good work.
**Lewis Dunk 7/10**
Generally good on the ball and considered in possession. Was left in his own in the middle for the first goal.
**Ferdi Kadioglu 6.5/10**
Is always a busy performer but was caused an early problem by Joe Gomez and did not threaten as much as one would have liked.
**Carlos Baleba 6/10**
The Indomitable Lion did not go out with a roar ahead of AFCON. Looked a bit slow at times but also did some decent work. There is a midfield spot up for grabs.
**Yankuba Minteh 6/10**
The afternoon will be remembered for his clearance ahead of the first goal but there was more to it than that. Some of his work, notably the pass to release Gomez, bumps his mark up a bit.
**Brajan Gruda 6/10**
Goes too quiet for too long which is a shame because the pass he produced ahead of the Gomez chance and the trickery before the shot he put inches wide show what he can do.
**Diego Gomez 5/10**
A poor afternoon which might have been worse with a more trigger happy VAR official. Lightweight play on the first goal was not repaid when had chances and he also booked himself a ban for yellow card accumulation.
**Georginio Rutter 6.5/10**
We know this is not his favoured role. Did some good stuff on the ball but was a bit hurried on occasion, such as an early shot dragged wide and a stray pass on a counter raid.
**SUBS - Yasin Ayari 6/10**
A surprise that he did not start but was quite active when he went on.
**Kaoru Mitoma 7/10**
Just signs of the extra cutting edge he will bring.
**Danny Welbeck, Charalampos Kostoulas, James Milner N/A**
Later entries into the action. Maybe Kostoulas could been thrown in a bit sooner.
