Enzo Maresca names the two Chelsea stars who caused Everton'many problems'

Chelsea ended their run of three Premier League games without a win on Saturday with a victory over Everton.

Cole Palmer scored in the 21st minute to put Chelsea 1-0 up before Malo Gusto doubled their lead just before the break.

It was also the Frenchman who set up Palmer, so it is fair to say that he had a really good game.

Alan Shearer has praised Gusto’s performance, but the Newcastle United legend is not the only person who has been raving about him.

Enzo Maresca says Reece James and Malo Gusto caused Everton ‘many problems’

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca was very pleased with Gusto, as well as Reece James, claiming that Everton could not cope with the duo.

“The effort is there from the players, you can see that,” Maresca was quoted as saying by Chelsea’s official club website after the full-time whistle. “Reece and Malo are both full-backs but today, they both played as midfielders They caused many problems in the offensive areas.”

The Italian was also satisfied with Alejandro Garnacho’s contribution despite the winger missing several chances.

Garnacho’s pressing helped Chelsea to keep a clean sheet, according to Maresca. It was their ninth in the Premier League this season.

That and three points are what the Blues really needed following their draws with Bournemouth and Arsenal and defeat to Leeds United.

Reece James’ and Malo Gusto’s attacking numbers

Despite being full-backs by trade, James and Gusto certainly were two of the most potent weapons Chelsea had on the pitch against Everton on Saturday.

As well as the goal he scored and the assist that he provided, Gusto also created one big chance and registered two key passes, according to Sofascore.

James did not record a goal contribution, but the Chelsea captain still managed to register one key pass, complete one cross and take a couple of shots.

It will now be interesting to see what happens when Moises Caicedo returns. James is likely to vacate his midfield position for the Ecuadorian, but with the form that Gusto is in, he is not going to give up his right-back spot so easily.
