Report: Everton aiming to sign top prospect as The Friedkin Group as 'talks held' for teenager

Everton are already making tracks for the January transfer window – though it’s not a first-team star that David Moyes is after for his side.

Everton boss David Moyes has already made his intentions clear for January, with a right-back, left-back and striker being touted for the club in the window.

A strong run of form in the Premier League has seen them win four of their last six in the division, entering the top half as a result, and the European race isn’t out of the question. New incomings will be needed at the Hill Dickinson Stadium over the coming weeks if they are to qualify for continental competitions.

But it won’t be a first-team star through their door as their potential first signing – with young Australian goalkeeper Lachlan Allen having held talks with The Friedkin Group over a potential move.

Everton have held talks with Lachlan Allen’s family

The report by Alan Nixon on his Patreon account states that the Toffees are aiming to sign Lachlan Allen after having held talks with his family last week.

The 16-year-old is thought to be the best shot-stopping prospect in Australia, and had previously been on trial at Finch Farm with a view to a potential move.

These stats are damning! What position do Everton need to upgrade first? 😳

Everton believe they have a top prospect, and despite Jordan Pickford being in his prime, he is entering his thirties. A long-term replacement for the England stopper will need to be thought about at some point in the future.

Everton already have a top youth goalkeeper in their ranks

Everton already have Jordan Pickford’s namesake, George, in their youth ranks – and the youngster has massively impressed for the academy this season.

The 18-year-old, born in Preston, has already made his England under-18 debut and has featured for Everton in the EFL Trophy, the Premier League 2, the National League Cup on a regular basis. George Pickford even saved a penalty vs Real Madrid’s youth ranks last week, despite losing the game 2-0.

However, if Allen does make the Merseyside move, he could join a famous cohort of Australian keepers to have impressed in the English game.

Of course, the likes of Mark Schwarzer – who made 514 appearances at Premier League level – and Mark Bosnich have excelled in England.

And, alongside the likes of Harry Kewell and Mark Viduka, Everton have even had their own influential stars from Down Under. Ballon d’Or nominee and Goodison Park favourite Tim Cahill is still talked about in various circles, whilst utility star Lucas Neill also had a brief spell at the club.
