Liverpool have had a tricky start to the season, but performances over the last week, both individually and as a collective, show that things are picking up.
The Reds have made it two wins from two this week, with their smash-and-grab result against Inter Milan being followed up by a convincing 2-0 victory over Brighton.
This has certainly relieved a bit of pressure on Arne Slot, with this proving that he has not lost the dressing room and he might still be the right man to lead them forward.

A big reason for this upturn in results is because the defence has looked a lot more solid, with back-to-back clean sheets a big improvement.
One player in particular at the back has also looked a lot more reassured, suggesting that Reds fans need to be changing their minds after what they have said about him this season.
Ibrahima Konate has looked back to his best
Ibrahima Konate always had the odd poor performance in him, but this season, he has rarely had a good game.
Due to his performances, Liverpool fans admitted they did not care if he left in the summer as he is still yet to sign a new contract, but now they might change their mind.

The Frenchman has been excellent alongside Virgil van Dijk as of late, with it now back-to-back games where he has not made a mistake.
He looks more comfortable on the ball and a lot more confident in his ability, with his stats as per sofascore against Brighton proving just that.

Liverpool still need a centre-back in January
Just because Konate is improving, this does not mean they should not sign another defender when the transfer window opens.
Not only is this because they are short of options as it is, but Konate still needs competition as based on his track record, there is a good chance he does not keep his form up.
But by signing a player like Marc Guehi, it should force him to step his game up even more and push himself harder, while also giving the Reds more quality options.
The next month or so certainly is a pivotal time for Konate’s future, but keeping him around would be the best option, even if some fans may disagree due to his hesitancy over a new deal.
