During his standout performance, his nickname, “The Alien,” came up in commentary. One of the commentators, former NBA coach Stan Van Gundy, jokingly suggested that people should consider dropping the nickname.
“They deport those. We do not want Victor Wembanyama deported. Let's go with a different nickname,” Van Gundy said during the game.
The Spurs will need another “alien-like” performance on Tuesday as they aim to win their first-ever NBA Cup title against the New York Knicks.
