Tottenham are thinking about Xavi Hernandez as Thomas Frank’s replacement in light of the result against Nottingham Forest.
According to Fichajes, Tottenham are once again linked with the prospect of sacking Thomas Frank, as Xavi Hernandez is the latest to be linked with the job. The 45-year-old former Barcelona manager is out of a job since leaving the Spanish giants, as Frank’s position is being called into question following the result against Nottingham Forest.
Thomas Frank has brought the pressure back to his door following the result against Nottingham Forest. The Danish manager has not been able to bring about stability at Tottenham since the start of the season, although he has looked good in recent weeks.
Following a period in which Spurs lost to Arsenal, PSG and Fulham, the pressure was truly on Frank with regard to his job. There were a few links to other names in the market, including Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner, although luring him away from the Eagles midway through the season would prove difficult.
Despite the rumours about the club thinking about a managerial change, Spurs were not planning on sacking Frank anytime soon. Whether that remains their stance is the question, particularly after it felt Tottenham have gone back to square one following the result against Nottingham Forest.
Spurs went into that game with confidence following the recent turn of results in the league and Champions League. Nottingham Forest thrashed the north Londoners with a 3-0 scoreline, which has brought the pressure back on Frank, as rumours about his job are doing the rounds rather quickly after that result.
Are Tottenham targeting Xavi Hernandez?
It appears Xavi Hernandez is a name that Tottenham are looking at to replace Frank, with the 45-year-old former Barcelona manager readily available since leaving the Spanish giants in the summer of 2024. The Spanish legend has been linked with Manchester United and Chelsea of late, but there’s no concrete evidence that either of those teams are likely to switch managers.
The same could be said about Tottenham, who had looked at Xavi back in the summer but chose Frank over him and others. The Danish coach also suggested in his press conference that this Spurs side needs plenty of time to evolve to his ideas, and should the club take him seriously, they are not about to change managers.
