"Well done": Ian Wright praises two Arsenal stars after 2-1 win vs Wolves

Arsenal legend Ian Wright heaped praise on two Gunners stars following the 2-1 Premier League win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Gunners were far from convincing against Wolves. They did not muster a single shot on target until the 67th minute. Despite this, they came on top with a fortuitous win at home.

Two own goals from Wolves on either side of Tolu Arokodare’s equaliser sealed the victory for Arsenal.

Bukayo Saka was the main architect behind the result. He led by example by winning 100 percent of his duels (11/11). He delivered five accurate crosses, with a couple leading to Wolves own goals.

The right-sided winger also made two recoveries and won 100 percent of his dribbles (4/4). Shortly after the game, Wright took to Instagram stories to praise Saka and Gabriel Jesus for their displays.

Here is a screenshot of the video.

He said: “Well done guys, that’s not easy. Not easy trying to win the league. Again, we weren’t at our best. We did it, we got the three points at home, which we have to do.

“What can I say, well done, Saka, again my friend. Came up with the goods.

“Jesus, beautiful to see even though they’re saying it’s an own goal, I don’t really care.

“What I do think is we have just got to go, this is the journey, this is what we are about.

“We’ve done it three times now, finishing second, and we are trying to get over that line. Get behind the boys. Let’s go Arsenal.”

Jesus came on as a late substitute for Viktor Gyokeres. The Brazilian played his part in the second own goal scored by Yerson Mosquera in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

The 28-year-old’s presence in the box meant that Mosquera had to clear his lines from Saka’s precise cross. The Colombian completely messed up, heading the ball into his own net.

Arsenal preserved their slender two-point lead over Manchester City at the top of the table with a lucky win. They were far from their best against Wolves, but got the victory that mattered.

The Gunners’ next league game will be at the Hill Dickinson Stadium against Everton on Saturday night. The club shared the spoils in both meetings last season and must secure three points next weekend.

Riccardo Calafiori will be available for selection again after serving a one-game league suspension, but Ben White could be sidelined alongside four other players after picking up a hamstring injury.
