Like others, Kawhi Leonard was stunned by the Los Angeles Clippers' decision to part ways with Chris Paul.

In his media appearance on Sunday, the Clippers superstar finally had a chance to address the controversial exit of Paul from the franchise.

“Surprised at it. He’s always been a willing teammate when I’ve spoke to him. Only thing I could talk about is our conversations. And they’ve always been positive and team-forward," Leonard said, via Clippers reporter Joey Linn.

"I didn’t have nothing to do with it. I didn’t even know what was going on.”

Paul remains away from the Clippers following the team's shocking move to let him go last week.

Los Angeles obtained widespread backlash for sending Paul home, who recently announced that this 2025-26 season would be his last and rejoined the group last offseason via a one-year deal.

Team president Lawrence Frank took full accountability for this event, claiming that Paul isn't a "scapegoat" in the wake of the team's awful season progress that places them at the No. 14 spot of the Western Conference (6-19).

The 40-year-old established himself as arguably the greatest Clipper ever, leading the franchise during its "Lob City" era and contention relevance across the early to mid-2010s.

Paul's departure from the Clippers was reportedly messy, as there were speculations that he and head coach Ty Lue had clashed over their leadership styles and weren't even talking to each other, leading to the brutal split-up.

Per reports, the Clippers are eager to work with Paul's camp to help the future Hall of Famer find his next home. Several contending teams have been rumored to be interested already in adding the former NBA star.
