Chicago came back from 13 points down in the second half for its first road win since Nov. 19, beating the Charlotte Hornets 129-126 on Friday night. Josh Giddey finished with 26 points and 11 assists while Coby White scored 20 points, including a pair of game-sealing free throws with 8.2 seconds to go. Reserves Patrick Williams and Zach Collins had 16 points apiece, and Halen Smith came off the bench for 10 rebounds.
The Pelicans stopped their skid on Thursday night, blowing out the visiting Portland Trail Blazers 143-120. Trey Murphy III led the attack with 24 points, with reserves Bruce McGowens and Jordan Poole adding 23 and 22 points, respectively. Jose Alvarado dished out nine assists, and Saddiq Bey finished with 15 points and nine rebounds. New Orleans remains without Zion Williamson (right adductor strain).
White averages 21.9 points for the Bulls, with Giddey getting 20.5 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 9.0 assists per game. Murphy leads New Orleans with averages of 21.2 points and 6.4 rebounds, while Poole puts up 17.9 points per game, and rookie Derik Queen posts 13.0 points and 4.0 assists a night. The Pelicans won their first meeting with Chicago on Nov. 24, starting the Bulls' seven-game skid with a 143-130 victory at home.
