AC Milan have joined West Ham in a January transfer race for an Arsenal talisman.
Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus was handed his first Premier League minutes of the season from the bench against Wolves, helping to make a nuisance of himself before the Yerson Mosquera own goal which secured a vital three points.
The Brazil international has worked his way back from an ACL injury just in time for the busy festive fixture period. However, Jesus’ time at the Emirates Stadium this season could be limited with transfer rumours rife.
Even though the 28-year-old is fit again, he faces a big task to get himself ahead of Viktor Gyokeres, Kai Havertz and Mikel Merino in the starting XI. With the player having one eye on the World Cup next summer, a need for minutes on the pitch could lead to a move away from Arsenal.
AC Milan linked with West Ham target
Mikel Arteta will be keen to keep the forward, knowing all too well the importance of strength in depth. West Ham, who are expected to part ways with Niclas Fullkrug in January, have been named as potential suitors.
Now, Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport reports that AC Milan are also interested in Jesus as they look for a new centre-forward. The Serie A giants had also been linked with Manchester United man Joshua Zirkzee and Sassuolo star Andrea Pinamonti. The outlet claims that Milan owners are unwilling to fork out for a big investment but a loan move for Jesus could be possible.
Ex Arsenal star set for Ajax medical
Meanwhile, former Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu is set to join Dutch outfit Ajax on a short-term deal until the end of the season, following his release from the Emirates Stadium this summer.
The 27-year-old mutually agreed to terminate his contract with the Gunners in July amid competition for a place in the squad. Tomiyasu had not yet found a club but is now scheduled to undergo a medical with Ajax on Tuesday.
The defender underwent knee surgery in February and had been completing a rehabilitation programme but is now fit again and set for a fresh start, so long as he passes his medical. The BBC reports that Ajax do not currently hold an extension option in the short-term deal.
Tomiyasu signed for Arsenal from Bologna in 2021 for £20 million and made 84 appearances for the club. He had not played since the 3-1 win over Southampton in October 2024 prior to his release.
