But on Sunday night, the Bucks endured in what has been the most brutal loss of the franchise for years, absorbing a 127-82 defeat against the Brooklyn Nets.
Not only Bucks lose against one of the worst teams in the league, but their 45-point blowout loss is officially tied for the second-biggest blowout loss in the entire league following the OKC Thunder's 49-point demolition against the Phoenix Suns.
In the postgame, head coach Doc Rivers can only express sheer disappointment over his team's embarrassing display.
"Probably one of the more disappointing games I’ve ever been involved in with the way we performed and competed," Rivers said. "We wanted to blame everybody but ourselves. We’re blaming the refs, we’re looking at each other. No one wanted to play hard.
"And, you know, that was, we got a lot of soul-searching to do.”
The Bucks shot an abysmal 39.2% from the field and a poor 22.9% from 3-point range. Defensively, they were even more awful by allowing nine different Brooklyn players to score double figures.
The Nets also won the game even without head coach Jordi Fernandez, who was excused due to illness.
This just marks the fourth consecutive game that Giannis has been out after it was announced that the Bucks superstar will miss weeks because of a calf strain. With the loss to Brooklyn, Milwaukee's record worsened to 11-16, good enough for the 10th spot of the Eastern Conference.
Upon this humiliating loss against the Nets, the Bucks can only shoulder more pressure moving forward regarding to the team's uncertain future with Antetokounmpo.
