Everton icon Pat Nevin believes that the Toffees will be ruing the absence of goals this season, after seeing them fail to lay a glove on Chelsea at the weekend.
And that will have been expedited further after events that unfolded in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
David Moyes’ men lost 2-0 at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge, a stadium that Everton haven’t walked away with three points from since 1994, and that will continue for at least another season.
And with former striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin among the goals in Leeds United’s plucky 1-1 draw with Brentford on Sunday, Nevin believes it will have hurt fans at the Hill Dickinson Stadium further after a dour weekend.

Pat Nevin says Everton will be hurting after Dominic Calvert-Lewin Leeds equaliser
Calvert-Lewin got on the end of a Wilfried Gnonto cross with just eight minutes to go, as Daniel Farke’s side picked up a vital point on the road – lifting themselves three points clear of relegation and handing themselves a huge chance of survival in the top-flight.
It was a trademark header from the former England international, with Everton fans seeing Dominic Calvert-Lewin do the same for them time and time again at Goodison Park.
And Nevin believes that Everton fans will have been hurting after watching him nod home to score his fourth goal in as many games in a real turn of form in Yorkshire.

Nevin said on BBC Radio 5 Live: “Dominic Calvert-Lewin – it still hurts Everton fans that he’s not there anymore.
“But give him those sort of crosses and there are not many better in the Premier League to put them away.”
David Moyes has seen Everton struggle to score at times this season and that will do him no favours.
Everton have had a real shortage of goals from their strikers this season
Thierno Barry signed for Everton from Villarreal this summer with a point to prove as a young striker, but it’s fair to say he hasn’t had the desired effect.
Beto has only scored once for Everton this season, and although Barry notched his first goal of the season against Nottingham Forest, his outing against Chelsea left a lot to be desired.

Calvert-Lewin, meanwhile, is now on five for the season. That is more than any other Everton player, and with top scorer Iliman Ndiaye set to leave for the Africa Cup of Nations on Monday, goals are in short supply at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Calvert-Lewin may not have had the best record for Everton over the past couple of years, but there is no denying that Everton could have benefitted from his presence in the current campaign.
