Warriors likely to make contract move for Pat Spencer

Pat Spencer is expected to have his two-way contract converted to a standard deal with the Golden State Warriors.

Golden State Warriors guard Pat Spencer is trending toward a full NBA contract as the season moves along.

Around the league, he is viewed as a strong candidate to have his two-way deal converted before the year ends, per Marc Stein of The Stein Line.

Spencer is in a similar situation to Ryan Nembhard in Dallas. Like all two-way players, Spencer is limited to appearing in 50 regular-season games while on his current contract.

Spencer has been around the team for every game so far. He has either played or been active in 27 games, even counting the eight games in which he did not check into the action. That leaves him with 23 games remaining under the two-way limit.

At that pace, Spencer would reach his limit by the end of January if he continues to be active each night. The timing matters, especially with the Feb. 5 trade deadline approaching.
