Jamie Carragher has told Arsenal to 'fear' the resurgence of Phil Foden - even though Pep Guardiola played down his latest performance against Crystal Palace. Foden, 25, was on the scoresheet for the fourth successive Premier League game to help City enjoy a comfortable 3-0 win at Selhurst Park.
The playmaker has now scored six goals and provided one assist in his last four Premier League games, helping Guardiola's side cut the gap on leaders Arsenal down to only two points. Although Erling Haaland is continuing to lead City's title charge when it comes to goals, Carragher says that it's Foden who Arsenal should be wary of.
"He was the Player of the Season a year or so ago, but wasn't himself for whatever reason last season," the Liverpool legend began on Sky Sports' Extra Time show. "But now he looks back to his best.
"Back to his best is one of the best players in the Premier League and I keep saying it, it's not Haaland, it's him who must be a real fear for Arsenal. Haaland is expected, he does it year in and year out, getting 30 or 40 goals, and he is doing it this season, but Phil Foden coming back to the party is a real worry."
Guardiola certainly didn't think that Foden was at his best on Sunday, though. "Today he didn't play good, he lost a lot of balls," the City boss told Match of the Day.
"He was rushing with every action, he needs to play more calm and keep the ball and in the right moment change the gear. Saying that, he is doing terrific for the team."
The man himself admitted that Palace provided a tough test, with Haaland breaking the deadlock midway through the first half before Foden made it 2-0 after the break. Haaland then wrapped things up to score his 17th Premier League goal of the season from the penalty spot.
"It's a really difficult game," Foden said. "We know what they are about; they make it tricky, set up well and have quality players on the break.

"The first half we were just trying to figure them out. Second half we started to hurt them more and in the end we killed the game off. The most important thing is patience.
"I think we maybe tried to attack too quickly. In the second half we did a lot better. That was the key for getting the result today. We had more control and more passes that is the City way.
"It was a full team performance. Really happy. I have been in great form in the Premier League recently and I'm delighted to keep that going."
