Arsenal have Real Madrid’s Víctor Valdepeñas on their agenda for next year.
That’s at least what ESPN Deportes are reporting, and they cover more Arsenal’s interest in the 19-year-old.
The centre-back came through the ranks of Real Madrid’s youth system. On Sunday, Xabi Alonso handed him his first team debut in the La Liga side’s 2-1 win over Deportivo Alavés.
ESPN’s report on Arsenal emerged before yesterday’s clash. They said the youngster will make his Real Madrid debut against Alavés.
He can operate as a centre-back and a left-back. Alonso started him as a fullback at the weekend. Valdepeñas got a chance due to injuries and suspensions.
The outlet then focuses on the clubs that have set their sights on the versatile defender.
It’s claimed Arsenal and several Bundesliga sides including Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen are closely monitoring the Spain U19 international.
Valdepeñas has a contract lasting until 2029. His desire is to continue with the Spanish club, but the report states this depends on Real Madrid’s plan for him.
If Arsenal were to make a convincing offer, Real Madrid would have to make a decision on him next summer. For now, Mikel Arteta’s side are keeping tabs on the player.
Last month, Arsenal star William Saliba said he was delighted with Real Madrid’s reported interest.
