Liverpool star Ibrahima Konaté is in his final year of contract and his future beyond this season remains unclear.
On November 15th, the centre-back denied claims of receiving a renewal offer from the Reds.
At the weekend, L’Interista reported Liverpool could sell him for €15m in January to avoid losing him for free next summer.
A fresh report from L’Interista claims Lazio’s Mario Gila is on the Nerazzurri’s list as they are looking to strengthen their defence in the winter market. However, their priority is to sign Konaté.
Inter intend to use his contract situation as leverage to convince Liverpool to sell him for a reasonable sum. They point out he’s currently valued at €15m.
The 26-year-old has the experience of playing at the highest level for both Liverpool and France. This, coupled with his contract situation, has seen the Serie A side focus more on him over Gila.
Therefore, the Inter management believe it’s ‘worth making a real effort, until the last available moment’ to try and sign Konaté. They feel he can make an impact straight away if he arrives at the San Siro in January.
There’s no indication whether Liverpool are willing to lower the price or if the defender is open to joining Inter in the next window.
