Crystal Palace and Everton have set their sights on KRC Genk’s Zakaria El Ouahdi.
That’s according to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who covers the latest in his column for Sky Sport CH.
The right-back has been attracting interest from the Premier League where Crystal Palace and Everton are keen. Genk are open to parting ways with the 23-year-old, likely in the winter market, and have set a price of €10-12m with bonuses.
Tavolieri claims the two English clubs have made approaches to try and sign him.
Oliver Glasner’s side have already contacted the fullback’s agent and the Belgium-born Morocco international is said to be open to a move to Selhurst Park. That doesn’t mean he will end up joining the Eagles.
Crystal Palace had been prioritising a move for Bayern Munich’s Sacha Boey. El Ouahdi is a backup if a move for Boey doesn’t work out.
Tavolieri hasn’t specified whether David Moyes’ side have asked about him with Genk, his camp or both. It won’t matter because El Ouahdi has turned down Everton as it’s stated he wants to join a club that isn’t fighting relegation.
It’s to be noted Everton are currently ninth in the table with 24 points from 16 matches. They are closer to second placed Manchester City than 18th placed West Ham United.
The Toffees are just two points behind Crystal Palace, who are now in fifth spot.
