Stephen Curry delivered a historic 48-point performance against the Portland Trail Blazers, hitting 12 three-pointers and passing Michael Jordan in 40-point games after turning 30. Despite the loss, Curry reflected on the milestone, calling it meaningful recognition and a sign of longevity.
Stephen Curry delivered another historic night for the Golden State Warriors, but it was not enough to lift the team to a win. The Warriors fell 136-131 against the Portland Trail Blazers, despite a massive scoring display from their superstar guard.
Curry finished with 48 points, knocking down 12 three-pointers on 19 attempts. He shot 16 of 26 from the field and was perfect at the free-throw line, going 4 of 4.
It marked his fifth career game with at least 12 made threes and his 45th 40-point game since turning 30, passing Michael Jordan on that list.
“Just cool recognition and longevity,” Curry said, per Sam Gordon, when asked to share his feelings on the achievement. “Obviously, I’d like to celebrate it with a win, but any time you’re doing anything with certain names in this league, historically, that definitely means something.”
Golden State had no answer for Portland as a team. Jerami Grant and Shaedon Sharpe scored 35 points each, while Deni Avdija added 26. The Trail Blazers shot 51 percent from the field.
The performance continued a strong stretch for Curry since returning from a quad injury. Over 18 games this season, he is averaging 29.6 points while shooting efficiently from the field, from deep, and at the line.
