Last week, Calciomercato reported Liverpool made a €20m summer offer for Atalanta’s Marco Palestra. The approach from the Reds was rejected and soon after, the Italian joined Cagliari on a loan deal.
That move is working out well for the full-back. He’s played 14 Serie A games, assisting three times and has emerged as one of the best young full-backs in Europe.
There have been suggestions that after Liverpool, more Premier League clubs could come forward for the 20-year-old, with the Reds still in the picture.

The youngster played in Cagliari’s 2-1 loss to his parent club Atalanta. After the match, he spoke to the press, and was about the attention around him.
He responded: “The attention is nice, I’m just focused on doing well in the rossoblù jersey.
“We need to improve, even if we always play with an open face. I’m improving defensively, but also in counterattacking. I have to thank the coach for pushing me.”
TuttoCagliari go on to relay a report from La Nuova Sardegna, who revealed Atalanta now want €40m to let the youngster leave.
The Bergamo club have plans to keep him until 2027 if that figure isn’t matched.
The Sardinian newspaper also state Premier League clubs continue to monitor Palestra. Whether Liverpool will make another attempt is unclear, but it seems apparent they’d have to much higher than that €20m.
