Former Liverpool FC striker Ian Rush is recovering after being admitted to hospital care with flu.

The Liverpool and Wales legend was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital after suffering breathing difficulties and spent two days in intensive care.

Rush, 64, who is an ambassador for Liverpool FC and the club’s all-time record goalscorer, has responded to treatment but remains in hospital.

A spokesperson for Liverpool FC thanked the hospital for “providing the best care possible for our legend and ambassador of the club”, adding: “Everyone at Liverpool wishes him a speedy recovery.”
