Arsenal will be without one of their key players for around a month after a fresh setback.

Arsenal have been handed a significant injury blow after their late win over Wolves on Saturday. The Gunners protected their two-point lead at the top of the Premier League thanks to a dramatic finish at the Emirates Stadium that saw Wolves equalise in the 90th minute and then score an own goal deep into stoppage time.

The own goal, which Bukayo Saka deserves plenty of credit for having put in a wicked cross, handed Arsenal all three points and ensured they bounced back from a defeat to Aston Villa in the previous game.

But the win was not cost-free, with Ben White picking up an injury during the game that left Mikel Arteta concerned after the game. The Spaniard said: “Obviously he hasn't played a lot of minutes because of the previous knee issue that he had, then the moment he started to get some momentum he had to play a lot because we didn't have any other solution.

“We had to even risk Wilo today because probably it wasn't their best call to play 90 minutes because we were buying tickets for another injury, but we don't have anybody else, but yeah that's bad news for sure. It looks like a hamstring [injury], so we don't know the extent of that, but probably tomorrow or the day after we'll know more.”

Those fears are now said to have been confirmed, with Football.London reporting that White is set for at least a month on the sidelines with the hamstring injury. A scan reportedly revealed White will be absent for four to five weeks.

That means White will miss games against Everton, Aston Villa, Bournemouth and Liverpool, while the FA Cup clash with Portsmouth will also come too soon unless the defender returns earlier than expected.

White has struggled with injuries over the last two seasons, and while his latest setback is not a lengthy one, it leaves Arsenal without the England international for another stretch of the season.
