Marc Guehi is on Manchester City’s shortlist of defensive targets next summer.

The Crystal Palace captain’s contract is running down at the end of the season and a host of Europe’s top sides are interested in a free transfer.

Guehi almost signed for Liverpool last summer but the £35million deal fell through on deadline day after Palace failed to find a suitable replacement.

Liverpool are expected to return for the England international but are now met with others, including Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid, who are looking at the 25-year-old.

City have long taken note of Guehi’s progression and could be set for changes in their defensive ranks in 2026.

John Stones is in the final year of his contract and recently suffered an injury setback. Guehi’s expected defensive partner with England at the World Cup was an unused substitute in six of City’s nine Premier League games before injury.

Nathan Ake has 18 months remaining on his deal but has seen playing time severely diminished.

Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol have become the trusted centre half pairing for Pep Guardiola, with City now two points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal.

Any potential new signing would have serious competition in cementing a regular spot, while Guehi performed well against Erling Haaland despite City’s 3-0 win at Selhurst Park on Sunday.
