Remarkable Mo Salah statistic sums up why he belongs in all-time Premier League XI

Mohamed Salah may not quite be the player that he was at his absolute peak, but his place in the all-time Premier League XI shouldn’t even be a debate.

The Egyptian King has been under the microscope of late, following his fiery interview earlier this month, and subsequently being dropped by Arne Slot.

There is no question that Salah has been well below his best this season, only scoring four goals in 14 Premier League games, but the manner in which he has been written off by some has been baffling.

It remains to be seen if the 33-year-old will remain a Liverpool player past the January transfer window, though, with the attacker having a big decision to make in the coming weeks.

But whatever happens, Salah’s reputation as one of the true greats of the game is undisputed, with one incredible statistic summing up his genius.

The Egypt icon is not only Liverpool’s all-time leading goalscorer in the Premier League (188), but also nearly top of the assist charts with 89, just three behind Steven Gerrard’s tally of 92.

Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp lead the way for Arsenal, respectively, with Sergio Aguero and Kevin Bruyne, and then Wayne Rooney and Ryan Giggs, top for Manchester City and Manchester United.

This goes to show what a remarkable attacking force Salah has been for Liverpool, not only scoring goals for fun but also proving to be their creative hub.

It silences those critics who claim he is a ‘greedy’ player who is simply focused on his goalscoring exploits, and he belongs on the right wing in the strongest Premier League XI in history.

Who joins him in the attack is up for debate, with Henry and Alan Shearer arguably the other standout choices, with Cristiano Ronaldo also in the mix, but not having the same longevity in the division.

If Salah does leave Liverpool in January – many Reds supporters are hoping that isn’t the case – it will be a sad way for his Anfield career to reach its conclusion, but he has given more great memories than almost any player in the history of the club.

It could be argued that Kenny Dalglish and Steven Gerrard are now the only individuals ahead of him in the pantheon of Liverpool legends, showing how special he is.
