Ahead of Tuesday’s final against the New York Knicks, Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson said the team will continue to monitor Wembanyama’s minutes, hinting that he could once again be on a minutes restriction.
“We are still learning, and we want to be very mindful of that,” Johnson said while speaking to the media on Monday, via Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.
Johnson declined to say whether Wembanyama will come off the bench again against the Knicks, noting that his starting status is still being discussed.
“We still have to think about what’s best for the team,” the coach added, via Matt Guzman.
The NBA Cup Final between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs will be played Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. ET in Las Vegas.
