Enzo Maresca did not want to speak any more about the weekend’s events when he faced the media ahead of Cardiff. Unfortunately, not everyone feels the same.
Despite Chelsea facing a side two divisions below them, the build-up to this Carabao Cup quarter-final hasn’t been short of intrigue.
Whether it’s Callum Robinson’s pre-Chelsea comments or how well Enzo Maresca knows Cardiff manager Brian Barry-Murphy from Man City, there has been plenty to talk about.
But nothing was going to get as much attention as Maresca’s press conference dramatics, and plenty of pundits have their opinions.
Finish off our team to face Cardiff!

Simon Jordan has some strong words for Enzo Maresca
Fans are concerned about the tension between Maresca and Chelsea, but not so much pinning the blame on the manager.
Simon Jordan, on the other hand, is far from impressed with how he has behaved.
Appearing on talkSPORT, he first touched on one he dubbed as the ’emotional immaturity’ of managers before launching into a rant about the Italian’s complaints.
He said: “I don’t think there’s a bigger job for Enzo Maresca than Chelsea. I think he’s in one of the biggest clubs in world football with one of the biggest budgets behind him.

“I think he was quite fortunate to have got it. He’s doing a decent job and there’s not a great deal of expectation upon Chelsea besides the historic expectation that’s been built up over the Roman Abramovich era which is you win you win you win.”
He drilled that second part home again, when asked if Maresca might leave: “Where does Maresca go? He was lucky to get it in the first place.”
Jordan makes his living off strong opinions, but even for him, this is a bit much. This is a manager who has won against top teams in the sport, consistently, who would be walk into another top job in Europe with a Club World Cup win on his resume. Memories can be quite short.
This Maresca debacle needs burying
Maresca isn’t blameless here. There are better ways to voice your grievances.
The best thing now for Chelsea is to forget it.
We are in one of the busiest points of the season right through Christmas in which results will have real bearing on the outcome of the season in May.
Do you think Chelsea can win the Premier League with Enzo Maresca? 👀
If not, who can bring the title back to Stamford Bridge?

It was a surprise to hear the outburst, and it was always going to be discussed, but the last thing Maresca, the players and the supporters need is distraction from the goal of winning football matches.
