Key Points

A proposed trade sends Davis to the Raptors, but Toronto may hesitate due to his injuries.

It has not been the start to the season that the Dallas Mavericks have hoped for thus far as they currently sit 10th in the Western Conference standings with a disappointing 10-16 record.

Of course, Dallas had high expectations entering the season thanks to their core of Anthony Davis, Cooper Flagg, Daniel Gafford and Klay Thompson, along with the hope of getting back Kyrie Irving at some pint this year after he recovers from ACL surgery.

Instead, the Mavericks have failed to live up to expectations as they have struggled to stay healthy early on in the season and with their disappointing start, they made a major move as they fired general manager Nico Harrison.

With Harrison now gone and Dallas barely hanging onto a Play-In spot, many around the NBA expect the Mavericks to be active ahead of the trade deadline as they try to add more young talent around Flagg to build for the future.

Raptors Could Show Interest in Anthony Davis if Mavericks Look to Move Him

Because of this, one player who continues to be in trade rumors is Davis and there is a possibility that he could be moved ahead of the trade deadline.

There have been multiple teams linked to the superstar big man despite him struggling to stay on the court once again this season.

One of those teams have been the Toronto Raptors, who currently sit fifth in the Eastern Conference with a 15-11 record and may be open to adding Davis to bolster their roster and try and chase a title this season.

Mock Trade Sends Anthony Davis, D’Angelo Russell to Raptors for 4 Players

In a potential trade, the Mavericks could send Davis, D’Angelo Russell and Dante Exum to the Raptors in exchange for Immanuel Quickley, Jakob Poeltl, Ochai Agbaji, Jamal Shead and draft capital.

By making this trade, Dallas would move on from three of their veteran players and swap them for solid young talent, a veteran center and more draft capital to build around Flagg for the future.

For Quickley, he would provide the Mavericks with a solid young point guard who could also start alongside Irving in the backcourt if Dallas elects to hold onto the veteran point guard.

This season, the 26-year-old guard is averaging 16.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 47.0% from the field and 38.2% from three.

Quickley would give the Mavericks a reliable scorer and playmaker in their backcourt who could become a key piece of their roster for many seasons to come.

Dallas would also add two more solid young players in Agbaji and Shead who could have a large role off the bench while Poeltl would give them a veteran big man who they could either look to trade in the future or keep him if they decide to move others in their frontcourt.

While this trade could work out well for the Mavericks, the Raptors may be unwilling to give up this much to acquire Davis, especially with his injury history, as they could look elsewhere to upgrade their roster ahead of the trade deadline.
