Eric Morris has hired another coach who is very familiar with the state of Oklahoma.
Julian Wilson is joining Morris at Oklahoma State as the Cowboys defensive backs coach, sources tell 247Sports. Oklahoma State confirmed the hiring of Wilson, as well as linebackers coach Reggie Johnson later Monday.
They both coached at North Texas this past season.

Wilson, an Oklahoma alum from Oklahoma City, has worked under Oklahoma State defensive coordinator Skyler Cassity for the last four years at Abilene Christian and Sam Houston before joining the Mean Green staff.
This season in Denton, he helped North Texas have the No. 10 pass defense nationally, allowing just 163.2 yards per game. North Texas' defense came down with 13 interceptions this season, tied for the 21st-most in FBS.
In 2024 at Sam Houston, Wilson's defensive secondary was No. 13 in passing defense and racked up 16 interceptions, the most in Conference USA. He coached defensive back Caleb Weaver to a First Team All-CUSA selection with four interceptions.

At Abilene Christian, the 34-year-old coach worked with Dave Campbell Texas Football's non-FBS Defensive Back of the Year in Patrick Jolly, who finished the 2023 season as the No. 9 rated corner in Pro Football Focus grading. He led the conference in passes defended.
Wilson played defensive back at Southmoore in Moore before playing four seasons in Norman. He was undrafted in the 2015 NFL Draft, but signed with the Baltimore Ravens.
His father, Darrell McCowan, lettered in football at Oklahoma State from 1991-92.
Johnson has spent the last couple years with Cassity, too at Sam Houston in 2024 and at North Texas this season. He has been coaching fgor 28 seasons with stops at Arkansas, Louisville and Purdue, among others.
The Louisville grad's resume includes stints as a defensive coordinator at Alabama A&M and UAB. He served as a co-defensive coordinator at Missouri State in 2023.
Cassity was officially named defensive coordinator last week. North Texas front office personnel in general manager Raj Murti and chief of staff Rolando Surita officially joined the Oklahoma State football staff last week, too.
