Enzo Maresca outlined his ambitions for **Chelsea**before the Carabao Cup quarter-final,.
The head coach of the Blues has caused a stir with his comments before the 2-0 win over **Everton**on the weekend about experiencing the “worst 48 hours” of his time at Stamford Bridge. A strained relationship with the board appears to be the reason for this statement after a summer window that gave fans more reason to question the commitment of BlueCo towards sporting success on the field.
Regardless of how this saga unfolds, Maresca wants to build on winning two trophies last season.
“I think since I joined the club, I always try to say the same. To have the winning mentality, you need to win games. Otherwise, the players, they don't believe you. So since day one, we are trying to win games. And tomorrow is another chance to be there in another semi-final, no matter the competition. And it's an important moment for the players, for the fans, for the club, for everyone.
“I think we are in the right direction. Knowing that there are some moments where we drop some points. But for me personally, it's part of the journey. But for sure, I have the feeling that we are getting better and better.
*“When you are Chelsea manager, you understand that the expectations are higher. Especially this season, they are more higher than they were a little bit compared to last season. Probably because of the Club World Cup, Conference League, we finished fourth in the Premier League.*
*“And as you said, we are the youngest squad in the history of the Premier League. So probably this season, the expectations are a little bit higher. But I think it's something normal when you are a Chelsea player or Chelsea manager.*
“The target for this club is to improve. And we're going to try to improve what we did last season.”
