Arsenal players vented their fury at each other in the dressing room following their recent victory over Wolves, according to reports. The north Londoners failed to reach their best level but still managed to claim all three points, with Yerson Mosquera's late own goal deciding the result. It saw the Gunners remain two points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.
In spite of their strong start to the campaign, it seems a few cracks are beginning to appear. Declan Rice was visibly furious after the final whistle against Wolves, with the England midfielder storming down the tunnel in a huff. It came just moments after he expressed his frustrations on the pitch in the celebrations following the decisive goal.
Rice was one of several players to lament Arsenal's performance in the dressing room after the match, according to The Telegraph. The report states that 'frank discussions' were held between senior players, with Martin Odegaard also speaking up.
There were no disagreements or arguments between members of the squad, who all agreed that their performance levels failed to meet the required standards.
Mikel Arteta was also unhappy with his team's display and made his feelings clear to the players, before addressing the media in his post-match press conference.
Quizzed on the mood in the dressing room, the Arsenal boss said: "It was a relief, but a very clear understanding that the margin should have been bigger.
"After not being precise enough in the first half with the amount of situations that we generated inside the opposition box and we didn't pick the right colour of shirt on so many occasions, we had an overload to do that.
"We had to improve in the second half in relation to that, I think we did it. We generated more chances, scored a goal, but after we had a period of two or three minutes in deep, totally passive, with horrible defensive habits.
"That is nowhere near the level that is required against a team that hasn't had a single shot. The first time that they had the opportunity to do it, they scored the goal and this is the Premier League.
"Unfortunately, we are relieved because we managed to score a goal at the end and go and win it, but we need to improve in that sense for sure."
Arteta added: "Learn from it and then move on, and every time you win in the Premier League, you should be happy. You should be conscious of the difficulty of it, but we made it even harder for ourselves today and that's the big lesson that we have to do.
"When the opponent merits something, that's fine and they did a lot of things to make it difficult for us, but that's one of the things that, I don't know, we should make sure that we improve them."
