Arne Slot has now taken Liverpool on a five-game unbeaten run across all competitions.
Fans were turning on Slot this season after they picked up wins in just three matches across a 12-game run.
It was their worst run of form since the 1953/54 season, and something clearly had to change.

The Dutchman’s response was to change Liverpool’s formation and, of course, drop Mohamed Salah to the bench and then out of the squad completely for the meeting with Inter Milan.
However, after a conversation with Salah pre-Brighton, the 33-year-old was brought back into the fold this past Saturday.
Mohamed Salah had to play well vs Brighton
Salah assisted Liverpool’s second goal of the day, breaking the record for most goal contributions at a single Premier League club in the process.
His return has, of course, sparked much interest from pundits, including the likes of Micah Richards and Alan Shearer.

Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast this week, Richards has named ‘the most important’ thing Salah did in his appearance against the Seagulls, whilst also praising Slot’s handling of the situation.
He said: “I think Slot dealt with the whole situation very well. Even when he could have threw Salah under the bus, he didn’t.
“Obviously, Salah’s had an outburst and all top players have egos.
“It was nice that he got on. And the most important thing, he looked sharp when he went on.”
Shearer added: “Don’t think he had a choice, by the way. Well, he had to. He had to come on and do well after what he said.”

Gary Lineker’s verdict on Mohamed Salah leaving Liverpool
Salah has now left Liverpool to link up with Egypt for the AFCON and could miss a number of key fixtures depending on how far his country get in the competition.
He will return at some point in January during the transfer window and Gary Lineker, speaking alongside Richards and Shearer, thinks the situation has now been resolved ahead of him eventually coming back to Merseyside.
Lineker said: “For me it looks like it’s, you know what it’s like, you’re in a relationship every now and again, you’re going to have a tiff like a lover’s tiff.
“That’s all it seems to me. Get over it. Move on. And that seems from the outside to appear to be what’s happened.”
