Player’s Father‘Flew To London’For Talks Last Week As Chelsea Join City In Battle For German Wonderkid

Chelsea are in contention to sign Bayern Munich defender Casiano Kiala, according to reports.

The Mirror claims that the 16-year-old’s father “flew to London” to hold meetings with the Blues, as well as Manchester City, on Friday.

Kiala won’t be able to sign for an English club officially until he turns 18 in just over a year’s time – January 2027, but it appears as if discussions are already going on behind the scenes.

Bayern are still hopeful that they can keep hold of the teenager, but he could soon be represented by superagent Jorge Mendes, which suggests that he may be looking to leave in the near future.

Mendes is extremely good at securing the best deal for his clients, so a departure from Bayern or a bumper new contract are on the cards.

What do Chelsea fans need to know about the player?

Kiala came through Hertha Berlin’s youth ranks before he moved to Bayern in July last year. He spent his first season with the Under 17s, captaining them on several occasions.

At the beginning of this campaign, the centre-half made his first two senior appearances for the Bundesliga giant’s second string against SpVgg Bayreuth and SV Viktoria Aschaffenburg in the fourth tier.

Kiala has also made the bench for the first team on 7 occasions, but he has not made it off the bench so far.

Kiala has been tipped to go to the very top

Despite not making his first-team debut yet, he has already impressed some of his teammates. Asked whether the youngster possessed the quality to play for Bayern, Jonathan Tah replied:

“He absolutely has that. He’s fast, good with the ball, and brave. He’s a top-class centre-back.”

Chelsea are always on the lookout for the next big thing and Kiala certainly appears to have a very bright future. It remains to be seen, though, whether Enzo Maresca’s side will win the race for his signature.
