Al-Qadsiah officially name former Liverpool manager as new head coach

Al-Qadsiah have officially confirmed that the appointment this morning.

Al-Qadsiah have turned around their manager very, very quickly.

It was just on Monday 15th December 2025 that the club announced that they had agreed to part ways with Michel Gonzalez as head coach.

Michel, a former Real Madrid and Spain star, had been in charge of the Khobar based side for two years. He led the club back to the Saudi Pro League and also the King’s Cup final.

Despite that, the club felt it was time to move on. No sooner had they announced Michel’s departure, Al-Qadsiah have already named his replacement.

And it’s a shocking appointment to say the least. Primarily because nobody saw it coming.

Al-Qadsiah have officially confirmed that Brendan Rodgers is the new head coach of the club.

Rodgers resigned from his role as Celtic head coach in October and has now decided that his next step in management will be in Saudi Arabia.

First reports of this came out yesterday and it’s been officially confirmed this morning in what is a rapid story concluding. Brendan Rodgers is another high-profile get for the Saudi Pro League as a person who has managed high profile clubs like Celtic, Leicester City and, of course, Liverpool.

“Following a rigorous global recruitment process, we’re delighted to welcome Brendan to Al Khobar as our new Head Coach,” said James Bisgrove, Chief Executive Officer of Al-Qadsiah Club.

“This is a landmark moment for the club. The caliber of his experience and track record of winning reflects our ambition and long-term vision to establish Al Qadsiah as one of Asia’s leading clubs”.

Carlos Anton, Sporting Director of Al-Qadsiah added, “We’re thrilled to welcome Brendan to Al-Qadsiah Club and believe his elite coaching credentials and playing philosophy are an excellent fit with our football strategy.

“Brendan inherits a highly talented and committed squad that is hungry for success, and I’m confident he will drive the next stage of the club’s development. He will work in close alignment with our performance, medical, recruitment and analysis departments to help elevate the club to the next level”.

Fans of Liverpool will be keeping a close eye on how Brendan Rodgers does at Al-Qadsiah. You never know – he may convince the owners to buy some players from his former clubs to play under him in Saudi.
