Yeah, Rich Paul, I'm sure contending teams _would_ [love to add Dillon Brooks](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNIbLD9XCMk) before the trade deadline this year. Adding a 20-point per game scorer who goes all out on defense every play, every night, who is also an all-world irritant would improve any team.
The problem is... Why would the Suns do that? No, maybe this team isn't on the level of OKC, Denver, or Los Angeles in the West, but they're currently No. 7 in the conference. Trading away their second-best player simply because a team that _"...actually has a chance to win the championship," also_ wants him is massively silly. I do think Rich Paul's ultimate goal is to create an NBA expansion team of Klutch Sports athletes in Los Angeles and every time he compliments an athlete, it's done with ulterior motives. I just can't prove it yet.
The Suns should not trade Dillon Brooks under (most) circumstances
------------------------------------------------------------------
Brooks is happy in Phoenix, his contract is not expiring, and he's played a massive role in the Suns' better-than-expected start in 2025-26. That's not a guy you ship off at the deadline — that's a guy you negotiate with on a long-term extension.
The problem with Suns teams in previous years is that they didn't have a player like Dillon Brooks! Now that they do have that guy next to their superstar, why not try to fill out the rest of the team instead of kicking the can down the road and leaving Devin Booker with less help _again_?
I know the NBA is a business, and Rich Paul surely knows the NBA is a business. In fact, I don't know how much fun Paul has watching the league because it's _strictly_ a business for him. So I'll give him some grace for only thinking of the league in business terms. But trading Dillon Brooks is pretty senseless from the Suns perspective. If Giannis is involved in the return package, I may change my tune. But don't hold your breath.
Brooks has provided exactly what the Suns hoped he would (and more) in his short time in the Valley. If things worked out how you plan... Why turn around and immediately change the plan? I bet teams will call on Brooks over the next two months. The front office should listen to all offers because that's the responsible thing to do... And then respectfully hang up.
