Arsenal defender Ben White facing spell out injured

Arsenal defender Ben White is facing a period on the sidelines after sustaining a hamstring injury during the Gunners’ 2-1 Premier League win over Wolves on Saturday, according to reports.

The 28-year-old went down in the 31st minute after being forced into a sprint when Hwang Hee-Chan found space in behind the Arsenal defence, forcing David Raya into a save.

The Arsenal full-back played 90 minutes against both Brentford and Aston Villa, having not started a Premier League game since the opening-day win over Manchester United back in August.

White lost his place to Jurrien Timber last season after the Dutchman’s scintillating form saw the latter establish himself as Mikel Arteta’s first-choice right-back, but has since re-emerged as a real option for the Gunners boss.

The league leaders have been facing torrid injury problems all season, with Gabriel and William Saliba both having missed successive matches in recent weeks.

The club are yet to comment on White’s fitness, but the expectation is that he will miss at least a month of action, putting further pressure on Timber, who has appeared in every one of Arsenal’s 16 Premier League fixtures this season.
