Bucks aim to keep Giannis: Five players on trade radar

The Milwaukee Bucks are pursuing Zach LaVine and Jerami Grant now, having previously explored Andrew Wiggins, Marcus Smart, and Dejounte Murray, as they aim to bolster their roster and keep Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The Milwaukee Bucks are doing everything they can to convince Giannis Antetokounmpo to stay, and they have recently shown interest in Zach LaVine and Jerami Grant, according to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line.

Milwaukee Bucks / Schedule

In the near past, the Bucks have explored players such as Andrew Wiggins, Marcus Smart, and Dejounte Murray, per the same report.

"One rival general manager I spoke to went so far as to say that the Bucks have convinced him that 'they're going big-game hunting.'"

Milwaukee has shifted its approach. After repeatedly telling teams that Giannis is not available and that it is not entertaining trade offers for him, the Bucks are now signaling that they want to be buyers at the trade deadline.

Grant has two seasons left on his contract after this one, worth just over $70 million. LaVine, meanwhile, carries a $47.5 million cap hit this season, with a player option just under $49 million for 2026-27.

Antetokounmpo is earning $54.1 million this season and holds a $62.8 million player option for 2027–28. He does not have a no-trade clause.

Fischer believes the Miami Heat could have the strongest potential trade package for Giannis.

While some rival teams have downplayed Miami's offer, Fischer notes that few in-season suitors could top the Heat's proposal, which could include Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, draft compensation, and possibly more — especially with teams like the Thunder, Spurs, and Rockets unlikely to enter a Giannis sweepstakes.
