Real Madrid are reportedly readying a bid to prize away the Tottenham Hotspur gem as his development continues.

Tottenham Hotspur star Yang Min-heyok could be the subject of head-turning transfer interest from La Liga giants Real Madrid as he continues to impress on loan.

The 19-year-old only arrived in north London at the start of 2025, having agreed a transfer from K-League outfit Gangwon FC in July 2024. Yang had won the Player of the Year accolade in the Korean division and arrived in the UK touted as a prodigy, tipped to follow in the footsteps of compatriot Son Heung-min.

Yang was immediately loaned to QPR and enjoyed a successful short loan spell, showing sparks of his promise in 14 appearances. The winger then joined Portsmouth on loan this season and has registered two goals and an assist this season.

Yang Min-hyeok continues to impress at Portsmouth

His minutes have been managed by John Mousinho at Fratton Park but the Pompey boss has been outspoken with praise for the player. When asked if Yang had ‘exceeded expectations’ at the start of December, he told The News: “I think so [his loan period has gone as expected]. I think he probably has exceeded expectations, with the way he came in and did as well as he did - especially in Josh Murphy's absence.

“We’ve still got very high hopes for Min-hyeok, and we’re really pleased with where he’s at. I think he can definitely influence games off the bench, but he’s done both. He started games and also influenced things off the bench. At times, he’s started and looked very bright for us.”

Those performances are reported to not have gone unnoticed in Spain with Defensa Central claiming that the loan star is being ‘closely watched’ by Real Madrid due to his ‘immense potential’.

Real Madrid linked with £6m Tottenham Hotspur transfer

The report goes as far as to suggest that Real Madrid could make a £6 million offer to Tottenham Hotspur to sign the South Korean. It’s not said whether that bid would come in January or in the summer.

Yang is yet to make a first team appearance for Spurs but was involved in the pre-season camp under Thomas Frank this summer. Tottenham Hotspur would surely be unlikely to readily green light an exit for a teenager with such big potential.

Tottenham Hotspur News even claim that the club could be considering a loan recall from Portsmouth next month with a view to sending Yang elsewhere to ensure that he continues to develop.

When asked about his hopes for Yang this summer, Frank had said: “The potential is good. It will take a lot of effort for him to grow further. However, I have high expectations.”
