Chelsea looked laboured until their second-half substitutes bailed them out against Cardiff City in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.
An Alejandro Garnacho brace and a Pedro Neto strike saw the Blues run out 3-1 winners, booking their place in the two-legged semi-final.
Enzo Maresca will have been disappointed with what he had seen from his starting players though. He made 11 changes from the Everton win, and only really Moises Caicedo impressed in the opening 45.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink criticises Marc Guiu after Chelsea vs Cardiff
The Spaniard had Chelsea’s best chance of the first half, latching onto Caicedo’s through ball, however only managing to hit his shot straight at the goalkeeper.
Club legend Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was critical of Guiu for how he took the chance, stating to Sky Sports that he made the chance more difficult for himself than he needed to.
He said: “He peels off really well, takes a touch but then takes too long. The moment you take that touch, now you need to hit it really quickly, because you’re making that corner smaller and smaller for yourself.”
Guiu was replaced at the break for Joao Pedro, with the Brazilian showing far better hold-up play when he was on the pitch.
