Key Points

It has been a tumultuous season for Steve Kerr and the Golden State Warriors thus far. They are coming off back-to-back losses, including Sunday’s deflating 136-131 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers. Fans have not been happy with the team’s performance this season, and they have been using various channels to air their grievances. This includes complaining to team owner Joe Lacob via email, which, apparently, he has decided to respond to.

A photo is currently circulating online showing Lacob responding to a fan about their frustrations this season. The Warriors owner acknowledged the disappointment and promised that he is working on the issues at hand.

Lacob kept his response brief. However, he addressed a number of concerns in his seven-sentence email. This includes what he described as “coaches desires regarding players.” Lacob did not go into detail about what he meant by this, but it is clearly related to Kerr’s coaching style and how he views the players on the team.

Kerr addressed the leaked email during Tuesday’s press conference. The four-time NBA champion coach was quick to play down the issue, saying that it is “not a big deal.” Kerr also made it clear that there are no concerns with regard to his relationship with the Warriors owner. “Joe supports me. I support him,” said Kerr.

In the same press conference, Kerr announced a roster decision that will impact the team for the foreseeable future. According to Kerr, he intends to keep the same starting lineup of Steph Curry, Moses Moody, Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green and Quinten Post.

This is the same starting five Kerr fielded against the Blazers on Sunday. It appears that the veteran coach liked what he saw from this lineup despite the loss. Buddy Hield will be shifted to a bench role for the time being, along with Pat Spencer, who filled in admirably while Curry was out injured.

Kerr will get to test this lineup again on Thursday when the Warriors return to action against the Phoenix Suns. It will be a road game for Golden State, with tip-off from Mortgage Matchup Center scheduled for 9:00 p.m. ET.
