According to Mitch Johnson, Wemby will come off the bench in their NBA Cup Finals matchup against the Knicks.
Approaching their marquee NBA Cup Finals game against the New York Knicks, the San Antonio Spurs will look to restrict Victor Wembanyama again.
San Antonio Spurs / Schedule
Head coach Mitch Johnson told reporters that he is planning to put Wembanyama off the bench in facing the Knicks, but he added that the Spurs star is set to obtain increased minutes.
Wembanyama, playing in his first game back after missing 12 contests with a calf strain, came off the bench and was limited to just 21 minutes in this past weekend's semifinal round against the OKC Thunder.
Still, he paced the Spurs' entry to the title round with a 111-109 victory, finishing with 22 points, 9 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 2 assists.
With this, Luke Kornet will start over Wembanyama. But San Antonio expects another major performance from their superstar to win the championship and clinch the $530,933 prize money per player.
