According to the NBA commissioner, the league will look at some"some storied college arenas" as potential new sites for future NBA Cup final rounds.
On Tuesday, NBA commissioner Adam Silver revealed that the league will consider new sites for future NBA Cup final rounds.
Silver noted that there is a possibility that the tournament will be played in historic college arenas.
“We’ve loved our experience in Vegas,” Silver said as he joined the NBA on Prime pregame show, via The Athletic's Jason Jones. “We’re talking with Amazon Prime about whether it makes sense to maybe go to some unique locations for the final game. They’ve suggested, for example, some storied college arenas. So we’re just looking at other ways to do this.”
Since 2023-24, Las Vegas' T-Mobile Arena has staged the NBA Cup championship rounds.
Currently, there is no deal in place for the arena to host the final rounds again next year.
The inaugural tournament saw the Los Angeles Lakers win it all by beating the Indiana Pacers. Last year, it was the Milwaukee Bucks who emerged victorious over the Oklahoma City Thunder.
This season, both the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs are squaring it up for the Cup trophy and a prize award of $530,933 per player.
