Karl-Anthony Towns said he will donate his $530,000 NBA Cup prize money to his foundation in the Dominican Republic after helping the Knicks win the in-season tournament.
New York Knicks big man Karl-Anthony Towns revealed that he plans to donate the $530,000 he earned from winning the NBA Cup to his foundation in the Dominican Republic, with the goal of helping communities and families facing financial hardship build homes.
The report was shared by Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.
The Knicks forward has strong ties to the Dominican Republic, as his late mother, Jacqueline Cruz, was from the country. Towns has also represented the nation on the international stage, including at the 2023 FIBA World Cup.
In 2017, Towns established the KAT Team Foundation, which focuses on expanding educational opportunities, supporting underprivileged youth, and raising awareness for autism.
Towns played a key role as the Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs 124–113 on Tuesday night, becoming the third team to win the NBA's in-season tournament.
Despite dealing with a calf injury, Towns recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. He made six of his 12 shot attempts from the field.
