Knicks NBA Cup banner and parade: Will they really celebrate?

The Knicks will not be holding a parade through New York City, and it's unclear if they will raise a banner for their NBA Cup win, with some fans, including Spike Lee, opposed to the idea.

The New York Knicks are the 2025 NBA Cup champions after defeating the San Antonio Spurs 124–113 on Tuesday night. It marks the franchise's first trophy since 1973, ending a title drought that had lasted more than five decades.

Whether that achievement will be immortalized with a banner at Madison Square Garden remains unclear. According to Josh Hart, the decision isn't up to the players.

"Some people will be mad if we do, and some will be mad if we don't," Hart said after the victory.

Not everyone is in favor of raising a banner for the NBA Cup. Longtime Knicks superfan Spike Lee made his stance clear during the Prime postgame show when speaking with Steve Nash.

"We don't need that," Lee said when asked directly.

At the very least, the Knicks won't be celebrating the title with a parade through New York City. When asked about that possibility, Jalen Brunson quickly shut it down.

"I don't think we're having a parade," Brunson said.

The Knicks won't have much time to dwell on the victory anyway, as a busy stretch of basketball lies ahead.

They return to action Thursday in Indiana against the Pacers, a rematch of last season's Eastern Conference finals.

The schedule then brings a back-to-back on Friday against the Philadelphia 76ers, followed by a Christmas Day matchup with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
